One Water Vision conceptualizes a comprehensive, watershed-scale plan for the City of Dyersville and its water resources in Iowa's driftless region. Dyersville is defined by the rivers and streams that flow through it. The North Fork of the Maquoketa River, Bear Creek, and Hewitt Creek are integrated into everyday infrastructure of the community.
In 2017, the City of Dyersville began extensive community-wide planning, beginning with the Dyersville Comprehensive Plan and Dyersville Downtown Plan. The One Water Vision grew organically as Dyersville residents voiced their concerns about flooding and the water quality of the community's water resources.
One Water Vision pulls community resources together to create valuable community amenities from otherwise impaired and underutilized waters. The result is new recreation opportunities, economic development, flood mitigation, and water quality improvements.
One Water Vision is first and foremost a reflection of the values and beliefs of the Dyersville community. It's also comprised of a collection of public-private partnerships that bring innovation, environmental expertise, and funding to the table. All together, the One Water Vision represents a motivated group of individuals and businesses that believe in the economic value of Dyersville's water resources.
